Fabulously Fantastic Math Inventory Bags & Boxes!

Inventory Bags come from the Investigations curriculum by Pearson. We use inventory bags all year with our Kindergarten kids to build numerical fluency. The children take an inventory bag or box shown here and record the contents of the bag or box selected by recording with pictures, words or both. What I LOVE about inventories is that it is easily differentiated for different children by assigning a color or labeling the bag or box with a number or letter. Additionally, the possibilities of what to inventory are endless and most teachers love them because they can put mathematically cute things inside. During the holidays you can find holiday lunch sacks at Walgreen's for .08 each. The foam shapes shown above are a much better deal than what I paid for my foam shapes and the set shown here comes with sooo many more than I got! Now that's a Math Station in a snap!

Fantastically Fabulous Fiesta!

Lots and lots of emails for the dinnerware sets! The plates that were in the picture, on the blog, were bought a year ago! I LOVED them so much that I bought two sets. I have looked for a third set and could not find them but I found this one and I think it could coordinate with the other and I LOVE how this one is square! I will also post more information about the Fantastically Fabulous Inventory Bags later tonight. See... I do respond to emails, just having a time keeping up with them!

The Best Teacher Recipe Ever!

Before you head out to the store, take a look at this recipe which is the best teacher recipe ever! This was passed down to me from one of my favorite "go to" recipe girls, Holli! In my house she is totally famous for sending me home with the best recipes ever... You have to try this because you simply can't believe it is this simple and delicious. Ole!

Cinco de Mayo Banners

Hello friends! We have our banners finished and laminated so all we have left for this part of our project is to assemble them together and get them on the stage. We are getting excited and can't wait to share our celebration with our new Kinder Friends at Kindergarten Tales!  We are now moving on to the last few projects for our program. We will take some pictures of our school to show you!

PS. Yes, Cinco means five!

About the teacher...

Hi Mrs. Blakely! I was looking for you In The Teacher's Lounge and I guess you had already gone for the day! Usually what is going on inside the classroom, spills over into my regular life like I said... In the spirit of that, I share this picture with you before I get to more kids stuff. And if you like that wait till you see what we do in our teacher's lounge next week.

So What Has Been Going On?

Hey new Kinder friends at Kindergarten Tales! We have been busy preparing for our annual Cinco de Mayo Celebration! We are making banners and pinatas to decorate the stage and teacher's lounge, practicing our dance and getting ready for the exciting show and we can't wait. We have costumes to wear and everything! And we think you are going to love what you see in the coming days so hold on and stay tuned! We also have been busy writing and publishing three part stories and learning that we too are authors and illustrators. The stories have been amazing!

Old Friends and New Friends!

To my new friends from Kindergarten Tales I was out of the classroom today writing Science Curriculum with my old teacher friends. I had a great time discussing Science and making plans for the coming year. I will be back to class tomorrow and send you an update. Which brings me to my next point. How do you convince your fabulous old friends to join you on the blog bandwagon? And my second thought is how do you meet new friends in the blogging world? If you are reading this and have some insight, I would love to hear from you. I am up for blog parties, linky parties, giveaways and grab my button! Send me an email because I really will respond.

This One Is For You Betty Crocker & Gooseberry Patch!

In honor of Betty Crocker and Gooseberry Patch being my first two followers on Twitter, I had to write this! I have been a fan of Betty Crocker since  my sister and I were baking in our Easy Bake Ovens when we were kids. So, imagine my surprise when I got notification that Betty was following me on Twitter! I have to say this was brilliant marketing but my childlike mind left that thought and I could just see my sister and I baking with our Easy Bake Ovens again. I have been a Betty Crocker fan since I was in Kindergarten. As I grew up, I became a fan of Gooseberry Patch. I love everything Gooseberry so I had to follow them too! And again I was surprised when they followed as well. It is still great marketing on their part but I choose to think of it a different way. Between Betty and Gooseberry they have helped me with so many teacher luncheons so I want to say Thanks. So, here's to you my first two Twitter fans! I totally love your stuff!

I know the kids will like the change as we inventory items for our Kindergarten end of the year review! I already have these ready to go because it took no time at all. Don't you just love centers or stations in a snap?

Daily 5!

Sooo excited that I am ordering the CAFE book after working with The Daily 5 book this year. I thought it was a good time to start thinking of my summer reading list so I would be ready to make or gather materials for the coming school year. If you haven't ordered a copy of The Daily 5, you owe it to yourself to read about it and consider it! This has really shaped my teaching and helped my children this year more than anything else. And take a look at that fabulous CAFE board! I can't wait to start reading!

Welcome New Friends!

We are happy and excited to meet our Kinder friends from Mrs. Blakely's class and start our Kindergarten classroom connection with them. We are excited to share our Earth Day hat photo with you as we introduce ourselves. As I uploaded the picture, I realized we need to take better pictures tomorrow and send them to you! With everything going on in class, all at once, I have to say it was a challenge! I have to run to go make something fabulously green for tomorrow and get my greenest outfit ready but we promise to send you more pictures! We made a video of the Earth Day poem we wrote but I think we might need a take 2 or maybe 3 before we send it your way!

Earth Day!

Hi friends,
Our Earth Day hats should be up and posted tomorrow. We used LOTS of paint so they were not dry enough to decorate and take pictures of. My librarian gave me this book to read for Earth Day and it is so good I had to mention it here. It is a Bill Martin Jr. book and it is worth buying. My class liked the actual photographs in the book because the pictures were amazing! We are still trying to decide what to put decorate our Earth Day hats with and I need some ideas for a fabulously funny headband for Earth Day!

Dear Mario

Mario,
I just had to say one more time Thank You for my Mario Jr. Build a Bear. You will never know how much that meant to me to get such a thoughtful gift on my birthday. All my life I have wanted a Build a Bear and I am so glad it was you who gave it to me. I can't wait to get back to school and publish your Rain story. Love, Mrs. Coe

Cinco on my mind...

I can't really believe it is this time of year already. Yesterday as we were making decorations for our Cinco de Mayo celebration, I just could not believe how fast time has passed this year.

The Challenge Is ON!

Where are you Mr. Coe? Your witty poetry might have won the Kinder vote this week, but do you think you can bring it on for the next week? I offer you the challenge, if you're up for it! If I win this Kinder Poetry Challenge, you will cook dinner and IF you win this challenge, then I will make a fabulous fish dinner. So, what do you say? Can you do it? In the spirit of our challenge I thought you might like to see the children writing in their Science Notebooks! Who would have thought poetry would have inspired so much Kinder Science Writing...but it did!

Welcome to my blog!

It is official! This is my first blog entry! I am so excited to get started and blog about all of the adventures we have in Kindergarten. But first, I want to thank Pamela at www.theposhbox.net for this fabulous and fun blog. I could not have asked for anything more and working with you was so much fun. And I also want to thank Lauren from www.burkevector.com for making Little Miss Kindergarten a reality. Both of you have been so much fun to work with and amazing at getting what was once inside my head, translated into a blog. I will be a repeat customer you can count on that!
