Thanksgiving Feast!

I love this time of year and I really think this might be my favorite Kindergarten event of the year. My Thanksgiving just would not be complete until I have had a Kindergarten Thanksgiving. It was nice to put aside assessments and finalize report cards and just live in the moment with each other as we prepared for our feast. Everyone brought from home the items that we needed to make our Thanksgiving soup possible.

We had tons of fun washing and cutting green beans for the soup.
We were kind of curious about the seeds inside of the green beans so we took a closer look at what was inside. And that naturally made us wonder just what it would taste like if we ate one. I will admit, I had to have a taste too.
We have spent so much time talking about plants and plant parts the past six weeks who could really blame us for wanting to open the green bean up and take a look and taste it.
This year we were lucky enough to be able to use a potato peeler to peel our potatoes. We had fun using this simple machine.
We were excited to get ready to go to the feast and share what we had prepared with all of our friends.
But before we left we had to sequence the Thanksgiving Story just one more time just so we could remember why we were having a Thanksgiving Feast. We even had a few minutes to talk about our favorite Thanksgiving books, videos and activities.

Charlie Brown's Mayflower Voyage was a favorite this year.

And it was no surprise that this was on the top of our list too! And we all agree that if you just need a good laugh this was our favorite.

And we also had fun learning how to set the table and making our place mats and practice patterning.

And we all agree the pumpkin muffins were so good!

Next week we will be talking about how our families celebrate Thanksgiving and all of the things we are thankful for.
