I guess you notice notice no image at the top of this post. Nope, not a single one. I guess you are wondering why. I have no computer at this point. Oh, I have the cords thrown in my car after dropping off what feels like my left kidney at my local Geek Squad. All that is left is the cord. Three years of life poured into a computer and all I have left is a cord. And this is a borrowed computer and my husband does not seem to have the same addiction to Scrappin Doodles as I do, so no graphics. You know they say you can live with one kidney but I wonder... is that really living? I would be telling a lie if I didn't admit I wasn't missing little old HP!
Ok, so here is the deal. The data is being pulled off tonight as I pretend to sleep. They call me with an update tomorrow. Lucky for me the computer magically turned on for
15 nerve racking minutes as I scrambled to drag everything to a flash drive. Did I get it all? No, 15 minutes for three years worth of work! In a split second I had to prioritize the last three years. I am sick of prioritizing what gets left behind and I can't take another moment of good old self reflection moments. Shoulda, coulda, woulda...

My mind keeps flashing back to that Carrie Bradshaw episode, back up and restore, back up and restore. Alright already, I got it. Can I just tell my brain to give it a rest? Who would have thought I would have even needed to back up and restore about eight months ago? I guess life changes. As my hard drive goes to the operating table, I began to look at new computers. Considering I do not let go of anything easily, this was not a super fun shopping spree. I found one that would have enough processing speed, large amounts of memory and a good screen size so I thought let's just do this. So, did I get it? No, it's in Uganda. Uganda, wonderful. Problem number two, how do I get to Uganda?
As I was leaving the store I passed by Mac Books. I am still in sticker shock and not feeling real well either. Are they really worth it? I wonder. And like I said I am really tired of all the analyzing and decisions. I like the good old days of teaching and blogging and then thinking about what I can write about next. I miss those days. And I have never in the history of this blog even just rambled on about nothing. I guess things change.
So I guess the computer drama will continue another day. I will let you know how it goes. Until then, back up and restore, back up and restore.

Hope your days get better. I do love my MAC.
I feel for you! I have had the same thing happen to me with a couple of computers and on a few of them I was not able to save anything. So I too have learned my lesson. I was very much a pc person, but after having my third dell crash I decided to switch to a mac. My husband had been trying to convince me from the time we met to make the change. The price and my concern about it not being user friendly had always stopped me. But I was also done spending a little less on something that didn't seem to last and I was replacing every two to three year with issues in-between. We went into the Apple store to check the computers out and I was sold. So I got my mac book pro last may and I am not going to lie, I LOVE it! I never thought I would, it has taken some getting use to. I haven't had an issue yet and I feel like it was really worth the money. My husband still has his mac book from college and it is 7 years old now and still working wonderfully. So they really seem to last. If you are thinking about the change I would look into their discounts, I feel like they have one for teachers. I was getting my masters at the time so I was able to get the student discount and it took at least $400 off the price. Good Luck!
I feel your pain...my Mac is at the shop. 6 months ago soda splattered (not spilled, there was no soaking of the ocmputer) just merely a mouthful of soda splattered on the keyboard. Not a problem for months..then last week, sticky keys, then no lights...and I knew it was dying on me! So off to Apple it went...diagnosis liquid damage...the soda has literally being eating the guts of the Mac for months...So, a crazy amount of money later, I wait for it's return! I do have to say, the Mac was the best money I have ever spent on a computer. I NEVER have problems...and this problem was created by me, not the computer. Also, I use Mozy.com to backup everything. It's relatively cheap $6 a month...well worth it!
Praying they can recover your data!

Yes, they are worth it. Trust me, I have had Pcs....worked with them at school- and still do. I have had them die for no apparent reason while I lost everything on them. And then almost 6 years ago I bought a Mac desktop...(had one in college, too) And it is what I am using right now. It has never had one issue. zero. 6 years...yes, I am wanting a new one..(why? just because..lol) But I plan on giving this one to my daughter. There is no telling how long it will be around. Oh, and by the way, when we moved from my last house, we got out of storage the Mac I had when I was in college...plugged it up and it STILL worked! I was in college from 1991-1995, so it is OLD! lol They are just great machines.
Hope that helps! =)

I love my MacBook. . . to me it was totally worth the extra money. I've had two other laptops before, and my Mac has lasted much longer.

MacBooks are expensive, not sure they are really worth the money but I know after using the MacBook Pro at school and my home laptop (PC) I really enjoy using the mac more for creating things. I really like their Pages program for creating and moving things around. I haven't created much but I have plans in the works when I have a spare moment. :) Good luck on getting your data off your computer.
The Mac is sooooo worth it! I was in sticker shock too, and still paying for it almost a year later, but it was the best choice we've made!!

Oh I am so sorry! I am just catching up on the blogs and I had to backtrack to see what happened to you, poor thing!! So funny, the first thing I thought was Carrie in that episode! "You sad mac'd"!! Lol!
I hate to say it too, but even though Macs are so expensive they are totally worth it. I went to Mac about 6 years ago and will never go back. I made my whole family convert!!
Best of luck with your search and I hope you find your ideal computer! :)
